Pathasala Educational Trust (1935) aims at imparting
need based education. The trust and its activities have grown to the present height by the pioneering,
dynamic leadership of its Founder-Secretary Late. Prof. N.
Ananthachar, who rendered yeoman service and dedicated his life to the cause of education. His vision and sacrifice helped it grow starting from a very humble beginning into an institution of its present magnitude.
As a trickle makes a pool, even minimal contributions from public
was gratefully accepted to build an institution of education to serve the cherished goal of serving the needy and the less-privileged class of the society which is reflected in our Logo and the Maxim.
The college logo symbolically represents Arts, Science, Commerce subjects taught in this institution. The book in the logo symbolizes knowledge and the lamp symbolizes enlightenment.
“Asato ma sadgamaya”
This is an upanishadic mantra, which means – “lead me from Untruth to Truth”. This in essence suggests – ‘to lead towards the path of truthfulness’ which is the motto of the Institution. To provide a single centre of learning to cater to the public at large,
multi-disciplinary institutions were started within a
decade by the Trust.
APS College of Commerce, a sibling of the Acharya Pathasala
Institutions, was bifurcated in the year 1986 to provide professional, value- based commerce education to the aspirants hailing from the neighbouring extensions. Since then there has never been a looking back and the commerce college has grown gracefully to reach the present mammoth size. With more focus on quality teaching, both the teachers and the students have involved themselves in various field-oriented seminars and discussions to equip themselves better to face the challenges that lie ahead. The teachers’ constant efforts at self-improvement and value–addition have paid well, with more number of graduates leaving the college portals to serve the nation in different capacities.
As a cascading effect of globalisation, the field of commerce education has assumed importance and is being treated on par with other
professional courses like BE, MBBS etc. Hence more and more students are opting for this course. This in turn, has led to the increase in the intake, posing several behaviour-related problems of
students, with a majority of students hailing from middle-class and lower-middle class families. Hence our orientation is towards modifying and providing the right direction to
such behaviour of the students. The entire process requires exceptionally tactful handling by the teachers and the management. So the education imparted in our college aims at making a better and socially more responsible human being than an educated elite.
We are proud of the fact that even with a very large proportion of the students of average or below average ability, we are able to get excellent results. This great institution which
celebrated the Golden Jubilee year (2005-2006),
has been serving the cause of education in an ever-increasing measure with the generous patronage of the authorities and the
good wishes of the public.
